PETRONAS, a global energy organization operating in over 100 countries, recognized the strategic importance of data in its digital transformation. The resulting initiatives at PETRONAS have transformed data governance, improved data accessibility and quality, and empowered users with advanced analytics capabilities, positioning the company as an industry trailblazer and demonstrating how pioneering excellence can fuel success in the digital age.
In this session, Datin Ts. Habsah Nordin will discuss how PETRONAS implemented a comprehensive strategy that included a Data Liberalization Program with institutionalization of data roles, an adaptive data governance approach, and the use of advanced analytics. This led to the launch of the enterprise data hub (EDH) and enterprise knowledge intelligence hub (EKIH) platforms that liberate trusted data for valuable insights.
Further bolstering the importance of data quality for informed decision making, PETRONAS launched a data standards and quality program, aimed at institutionalizing best practices and fostering a healthy data culture. Additionally, PETRONAS embarked on a master data management (MDM) initiative to address the challenges of unreliable and inconsistent master data. PETRONAS also institutionalized data literacy through robust learning and upskilling programs and a community of practices, aimed at connecting and encouraging discussions among data practitioners.
