The Business Value of Data: From Obscurity to the Centerpiece (with Audience Q&A)

June 21, 2023

Prerequisite: None

Julia Bardmesser

CEO

Data4Real

This session will include a moderated Q&A featuring questions from the live audience.

Before there were data scientists there were quants. Before there were data lakehouses and data warehouses there were Cobol master files. Data and thus data management have been with us ever since the first attempts at digitization. Yet only very recently have companies started to view data as the fuel of business growth and data management as a key differentiator that can make or break a company. What has changed? More importantly, how and why has it changed, and what should we expect in the future?

Julia Bardmesser will trace the evolution of the business value of data from the early days of “data as an application exhaust” to “defensive data management” to today’s data monetization strategies.

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to articulate the business value of data management capabilities and understand how to position their data strategy to address the most pressing needs of their business.
